A Family of Farmers…

The Palouse regions of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho are blessed with rich soils and annual rainfall totals that consistently provide some of the highest yielding dry land grain and legume crops in the world.

Situated in the heart of this natural wonder is a family of farmers dedicated to providing the world with a dependable, high quality source of food ingredients…Pacific Northwest Farmers Cooperative…known simply as PNW.

Anchored in a heritage dating back more than 100 years and spanning generations of homestead family farms, PNW has evolved from the humble beginnings of a single silo filled by horse and wagon to a network of more than 20 facilities feeding multiple barge, rail, and state-of-the art processing terminals.

Cooperative History…One Member, One Vote

Pacific Northwest Farmers Cooperative was formed in 2008 by the merger of Genesee Union Warehouse and Whitman County Growers… cooperatives independently built upon decades of service to producers on respective sides of the Idaho-Washington border, and collectively, representing the consolidation of more than half a dozen smaller firms brought on by the need for accommodating larger volumes and additional services.

All told, membership now exceeds 750 local producers…each represented by one vote regardless of size, and governed by a Board of Directors comprised of nine active grower-members and one independent non-voting outside business consultant.

Transportation…Doorstep to the World

Headquartered in Genesee, Idaho, PNW lies within 30 miles of three barge shipping ports on the Columbia-Snake River system, and many of its facilities are on state all-weather highways that make year-round loading, shipping and receiving possible.

The Company has ownership in barge terminals that service two different delivery pools on the Upper Snake River…an inland waterway system serving as a 465 mile link to Pacific export channels, capable of moving containerized and bulk shipments.

In addition to diversified bulk waterway delivery, PNW also has two rail loading terminals situated on lines connecting to both major Class I Railroads, linking individual railcar and unit train shipments to markets anywhere in North America.

Handling & Storage…Right Time & Place

Built upon a network of 26 facilities in 17 locations across the most bountiful agricultural production area of the world, PNW boasts a system-wide storage capacity of over 14 million bushels to accommodate the systematic handling and storage of every type commodity.

Equally important, the diversity in storage systems allows for the segregation of any type of grain within a broad geography of delivery zones, providing the capability to deliver stocks with specifications for any market requirement.

Processing…Made to Order

In an increasingly competitive global marketplace, meeting the needs of the end-user is paramount, and PNW complements its storage and transportation network with a state of the art processing system designed to meet the specifications of any buyer.

Whether it’s a barge of wheat for west coast ports, a container of beans for the Pacific Rim, a pallet of peas on a boxcar destined for the US Gulf, or a bag of seed at the local retail store…PNW delivers quality…on time and on specification.

To guarantee the best end product, PNW also operates three seed processing facilities for both wholesale and retail supplies. Seed stock pulled from only the finest fields from throughout the Pacific Northwest and cleaned to exacting standards guarantees quality and a good foundation for the next crop.

 Specialty Crops…Satisfying a Niche

PNW stands at the forefront of new product development and market exploration, building on a history of introducing innovative agricultural products for end-use specialty markets. Trusted by researchers and respected by commercial buyers, our specialty crop division takes the lead in getting new products beyond the laboratory, into the field, and off to commercial channels.
